Static bike advice 4-6 weeks post natal

Static-bike cycling can be introduced here according to mode of delivery and degree of perineal trauma. Pay attention to bike set-up in order to reduce pressure on the vulval area; keep your body as upright as possible and the handle-bars closer towards the body initially. Consider using a padded saddle and padded-shorts/underwear. Adjust duration spent in the saddle according to symptoms of pain/discomfort/swelling, and adjust resistance according to abdominal, low-back and pelvic pain/discomfort.
